So, why China develops J-16 Fighter-bomber?

2012-07-15 (China-defense-mashup.com) — Recently a picture of China’s new fighter-bomber appeared on the network, it could be the legendary PLA Air Force J-16 fighter-bomber.

I believe that it is one kind of fighter-bomber aircraft, mainly because its front landing gear uses a dual-wheel and two-seat Su-27UBK and J-11BS’s use single wheel. Two-wheel shows the aircraft weight increase and at the same time requires the ability to landing on the poor conditions of airports, these are the typical fighter-bomber features.

Before the 3rd generation fighters, two-seater fighter-trainer aircraft only exist as a pilot’s training. After the 3rd generation fighter birth, this situation can not be maintained. The 3rd generations of aircraft usually have more advanced technologies, such as high-thrust turbofan engine, advanced avionics, fly-by-wire and composite materials are expensive, but if you only used to perform simple flight training mission, is obviously a waste. Besides, fighter-trainer aircraft itself also has a good tactical and technical performance, you can also perform many combat missions, in particular, is that it increases a crew member, you can share navigation, weapon control functions to reduce the burden on the pilot and the fighter is more suitable to perform some long-range combat missions: such as long-range patrols, ground attack and so on.

Israeli Air Force F-15D fighter not only early bear the combat mission, which is improved to be mounted electro-optical targeting cabin, dropping precision-guided bombs, but also have the ability to attack missile to launch the AGM-142 zone has become a multi-purpose combat aircraft, the European RAFLE and the EF-2000 two-seater designed from the beginning as a multi-role fighter to use the late Russian Su-27UBK fighter facelift the NO01P radar added attack mode, with the ability to launch precision-guided weapons, the Chinese Air Force conducted a comprehensive modification work on the Su-27UBK converted aircraft, either mount the R-77E active radar guided air-to-air missile to perform air superiority missions, you can also hang Upload ground missiles and precision-guided bombs for ground attack mission, has a multi-purpose combat aircraft.

J-16 fighter-bomber

Due to the few number of Su-27UBK in and Chinese Air Force and the lack of advanced training aircraft, PLA Air force has to training pilots with high intensity of Su-27UBK flying, resulting in rapid consumption of the life of these aircraft. In this case, China developed J-11BS two-seater fighter-trainer aircraft, J-11BS equipped with Chinese-made turbofan -10 engine, the nose is equipped with large-diameter pulse Doppler fire control radar, the avionics is joint avionics system based on 1553B data, with better scalability and upgrades of system. J-11BS has a glass cockpit to realize enhanced combat and attack performance with C4ISR datalinks supports.

Especially the construction of the Chinese Beidou navigation and positioning system has achieved a coverage of China and the surrounding areas, so that the Chinese Air Force can easily upgrade the existing conventional bombs to JDAM GPS-guided bombs, so that J-11BS has more methods to carry the day and night all-weather ground attack missions. Meanwhile, the Chinese airborne radar with synthetic aperture ground attack mode can detect ground targets, then target location information can be quickly acquired by Airborne Inertial Navigation System to input to the airborne satellite-guided bombs. PLA can make J-11BS with day and night all-weather precision strike capability.

China is innovative? Not hardly. Most of China’s “innovation” is how many ways they steal other nation’s intellectual property and violate other peoples’ patents. They are innovative thieves, and not much else!

    • Tienfei says:

Laughable. The J16 maybe an su27 since China actually operated such aircrafts prior to the induction of the J11. But the J20 isnt taken or stolen from anything else. The stealth fighter is still pretty much a theoretical fighter with none ever seeing combat. There is really nothing about it to steal.

      • Hugo says:

Stealth fighters are theoretical and never used in combat? You’re wrong. Ever hear of the Gulf War? The F-117 Nighthawk penetrated the world’s densest integrated air defense system over Baghdad without any losses. U.S. stealth aircraft have been proven in combat. We have yet to see any PLA aircraft used in battle, so perhaps their performance is theoretical. We know ours work.

        • Tienfei says:

The f117 would be one of the few exceptions. And it was shot down causing the entire project to be retired. The f22 has never seen combat out of fear it would meet the same fate.

          • Pyro says:

If you think the F-22 never seen combat, your more delusional then I thought! Do you really think the U.S documents everything for the public to see?

China doesnt even have anything close to the f-117 and thats a 25 year old plane lol One in thousands of sorties was shot down and that was by Russian radar at the time, pretty good if you ask me.

The J-20 is using stealth Tech from the F-117,they got it when the only F-117 ever, was downed in Kosovo,in 1999…..Took China 13 years and plenty of stealing,to build their unprooven Jet!

          • Tienfei says:

The f22 has never seen combat out of fear of being shot down like the f117. The f117 has been retired from the airforce due to those incidents. Im pretty sure the J20 is much more superior to that plane. The F117 has very unique physical features. None of which appear on the J20. There is no evidence but news articles and hearsay.

          • Pyro says:

I know for a fact,F-22′s have seen combat. But you will never find that info in any article.

1 plane being shot down out of thousands of sorties flown, makes the U.S. scared to use the F-22? It’s one incident, not incident’s. And that’s not the reason they are retired. No one is even sure if they are retired btw.

I didn’t mean the actual design from the F-117,just the stealth tech from it.

Hearsay when something is painted in a light about China, but truth when it’s negative about the U.S.? Convenient!

          • shoude says:

umm based on sources and US experts they says tht it’s impossible to salvage useful datas and information from a crashed airplane, so j-20 is not based on f117. wikipedia says it all

          • shoude says:

umm no j-20 is not tech from f-117 cuz based on wat US experts says is tht it’s impossible to salvage useful info’s from a crashed airplane and why would they want to make a outdated airplane?

          • vincentchiasa says:

It is amazing that people who know nothing can talk as if they know a lot.All prejudices based on false assumption. Not worth reading.

      • Obelisk says:

All these so call stealings from China are cheap shot imflamatory accusation without proof. If your country have any proof of this serious accusations, especially the US will procecute China without a doubt.

You’re a BIG MORON in believing in this accusation and make stupid statement about it without seeing any facts yourself tells something about you?

    • SamS says:

Again, instead of trying to make themselves, your country and most others just don’t bother and just use U.S replicas. If China is thieves, your are just brain dead retard feeders.

      • Tienfei says:

The J11 isnt state of the art. But its a twin engine aircraft with a very traditional approach to air warfare. The J20 and J21 would be more along the lines of high end.

      • Pyro says:

That’s funny, all of China’s Military tech is stolen from Russia or the U.S.

        • Tienfei says:

Not likely. China does operate Russian aircrafts hence the J11s. But China has no military relations with the us and operates no us fighter. There is no relationship between the J20 or J21 with any american aircraft.

        • SamS says:

That’s still way better then hand me downs beggars like Philippine and better yet most of allied countries.

    • Westerner says:

Why re-invent the wheel. You do know there is a Arms embargo on China from the USA and all European countries?.

Therefore China can do whatever it likes if it can’t buy them.
If you ever read some history you will find that most countries have “stolen” various technologies to improve their own industries/agriculture etc. But hey you are blind to this fact. Idiot.

  5. SamS says:

Lol everytime when military hardware articles come as pyro wished for, all i hear is the whore accusing how dumb the west is to let china have their technology. I agree!!

  6. SamS says:

So what are you pyro? you sounds like your a Filipino, but you clearly wish you were born like your white masters, but sometimes you also idolizes the nazis, the russians and overzealous about the japs just to make your point against china. You are constantly fantasizing this fictional world that is 360 degree from reality. I guess your not a teenage girl that you accuse me of, but if you are, business will be good at the strip club miles away form where i live!

  7. Tienfei says:

China has no military relations with the west.
