2011-10-23 (China Military News cited from huffingtonpost.com and by Ipsita Shome) -- Following the communist mouthpiece of the People's Republic of China, the country voiced its firm opposition to the weaponization of outer space and an arms race in outer space and its determination to attach importance to the steps for more transparency and confidence building on outer space. The statement came as Wang Qun, the Chinese ambassador for disarmament affairs, was speaking at the thematic debate on outer space at the First Committee of the UN General Assembly. The First Committee is in charge of disarmament and international security. "The Chinese government always firmly opposes to the weaponization of outer space and an arms race in outer space, and dedicates itself to efforts for maintaining peace and security in outer space," Wang said.
However righteous and conscientious the Chinese stance on militarization of outer space may be, it is most rhetorical and declamatory in reality. The annual Pentagon report issued in 2006 addresses the current and future military strategy of the People's Republic of China. It takes a look at the current and probable future course of military-technological development on the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the tenets and probable development of Chinese grand strategy, security strategy, and military strategy, and of the military organizations and operational concepts, through the next 20 years. The report states, "In the next decade, Beijing most likely will field radar, ocean surveillance, and high-resolution photo-reconnaissance satellites. China will eventually deploy advanced imagery, reconnaissance, and Earth resource systems with military applications."
After a three-year leap, the China was back to being its unapologetic self, rubbing imbecilic rationales in a half-hearted attempt to cover for its ambitious, out-of-the-world projects. On November 2009, calling militarization in the space and in air "a threat to the mankind," Gen. Xu Qiliang said, addressing the media, that China must develop a strong force in the two arenas in order to face challenges of that threat. "Only power could protect peace. Superiority in space and in air would mean, to a certain extent, superiority over the land and the oceans," said the general in an interview with Xinhua, 10 days ahead of 60th anniversary of the founding of the PLA air force. "As the air force of a peace-loving country, we must forge our swords and shields in order to protect peace. The Chinese people are a peace-loving people, and China is a responsible developing country which upholds a national defense policy that is defensive in nature," he added, refuting allegations of being a competitive power rather than a defensive entity.

@smash, So, you're a "good" and "educated" man who became a China-hater without being fed at an older age? Congratulations!
We here expose all the White-lies you and your media creates to stir up controversies against China out of thin-air. The U.S created the Patriot missile defense system, The Star War scenario against Russia, put up countless military satellites up in the air to have advantages over all the lesser countries you invaded through out post WWII, created the first space-reentry two phased inter-continental ballistic missiles. Proposed laser weapons from space. Built the Blackbird spy plane that can fly 80,000 ft. Everything inching toward the inevitable weaponized space. And of course the U.S stopped, first because there was no opponent and 2nd 2 trillion in debt. Now you hypocrites are afraid someone else going to beat you at ur own game??
Yeah the U.S doesn't have 1000 missiles pointing at Taiwan, but how about 5000 nuclear warhead aiming at earth itself that can destroy everything 10 times over?
Don't accuse others of hating when you are coming onto this website doing it yourself. Trash.

No sounds better this way; No you've got to be kidding me, those 60% living in the us and the 1B living in china have had only 1 choice for the past 60 years so that figure means shit. Would be lower if there was a choice of other parties, but no choices just the same CCP crap shoved down your throat year in year out. China are responsible for a lot of horrible things and denial of suck facts is freakin insane. Coming in here to deny that the chinese are trash is not worthy of my argument. Total waste of my freaking time.

Looks like the majority of chinese in this forum want to declare war on the U.S. So why is it then that China doesn't grow some balls and do it?? Maybe it's because despite their current military expansion, they're afraid that we'll just turn your country into parking lot. Lots of big talk by the chinks on here, but I still don't see any action. This trashy American thinks that until the slant eyes can back up their big mouths, perhaps they should just know their role.

Tienfei: The figures for native americans killed vary widely, was most probably 30-50m, close to mao. The Americans/Europeans did kill the natives whenever they got in the way, but it wasnt really an organized, deliberate genocide since most of them were killed by disease.
Nothing can justify what Mao did to his own people just as nothing can justify what China is doing to its own people today. Soon, the Han will rise again and free themselves of the shackles of communist slavery to the state.

30 to 50 million is speculation. There is no record of that. What we do know is that the population of China exploded under Mao. What was originally 400 million reached 1 billion. However in the united states there was indian removal act, indian wars and the killing of indian infants. These american policies led to the complete destruction of Native Americans that we see today. What was originally a continent entirely made up of Native Americans is now a continent practically void of any.

HAHA. Thats speculation at best and a very tricky way to describe genocide. I mean how many millions of abortions are committed in the united states every year? There has go to be over 50 million aborted fetuses in america by now.
