2011-12-07 (China Military News cited from bbc.co.uk) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday met deputies of the Party congress of People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy and attendants for the meeting of the PLA's armament work.
China's navy should speed up its development and prepare for warfare, President Hu Jintao has said.
He told military personnel they should "make extended preparations for warfare".
China is locked in territorial disputes with several other nations in the South China Sea. Political tension is also growing with the US, which is seeking to boost its presence in the region.
After Mr Hu's comments, the US said China was entitled to defend itself.
"Nobody's looking for a scrap here," said Pentagon spokesman Admiral John Kirby in quotes carried by the AFP news agency.
"Certainly we wouldn't begrudge any other nation the opportunity to develop naval forces."

The one-day meeting takes place every year, with the stated aim of ensuring there are no misunderstandings between the two nations.
'Sovereignty dispute'
China has recently acquired its first aircraft carrier and has been vocal about its naval ambitions.
But its military remains primarily a land-based force, and its naval capabilities are still dwarfed by the US.

Philippines and Vietnam are two pathetic "nations" that are accustomed to being enslaved and invaded. So in the eyes of these paranoid weaklings, fishing boats, maritime surveillance ship incidents are called "overt aggression". Can only imagine what these jungle monkeys would start yapping when they actually see a warship.

宏觀來看，朝鮮半島狹小，三面環海，朝鮮人自古就有「北拓精神」，向與中國接壤的北部拓邊移民是擴大疆域的唯一選擇，近代在日據朝鮮時期，朝鮮邊民越界到偽滿洲國吉林一帶開墾，就是一例證；
那以後，韓國開始向東拓展領域，在日本海與日本爭奪獨島，採取先佔原則，日本居下風，韓國成功開闢了東疆。如今，韓國又開始擴張南疆的領土，強硬而迅速先佔為主。
從微觀看，韓國想將蘇岩礁築成人工島，而後根據國際海洋法，在中國東海、黃海圈出一塊相當於法國大小的一片海域，屬於韓國，目的是劫掠東海漁業礦產，覬覦海底石油資源。
中國失去蘇岩礁後海域縮小，大面積海洋國土淪喪，東海和黃海與韓國對半分都分不到，空域也被連帶壓縮，防空識別區拱手讓給韓國。
漁民丟失漁場，漁業發展受到制約，海軍只能在沿岸近海游弋，成了海岸巡邏隊，最重要的是海底石油財富全給韓國人搶去了。

21ST CENTURY will shift balance of power from America and Europe to Asia if leaders of Asia and particularly China & India instead of entering into an arms race & cold war enter in to talks and negotiations to make a systematic confidence measures besides entering into partnership for peaceful research, explorations, exploitation and development of common resources in Asia Pacific region. This will avoid any possibility of future conflict thereby not only saving sizable economic resources but generating the resources for prosperity of the people in this region. Such co-operation may be extended with Australia and willing nations in Africa, Europe & America. If this happen even in 20 years, possibility any big war will be reduced thereby saving huge resources which may be used for space research, exploration, exploitation for betterment of mankind.
