2012-08-12 (China military News from China-defense-mashup) — On 10th August, two experts (Geng Zhiqiang and Ma Yongzhao) of PLA Academy of Military Sciences wrote an article in China Youth Daily to describe the features of China’s special forces and admitted that lack of combat experience is a big disadvantage of Chinese “Green Berets”. Here is a main content of that article:
In the first half of this year, the Chinese special forces makes “Blue Assault-2012″ and “Sharp Knife-2012 “joint training with the Marine Corps in Thailand and Indonesia special forces
In recent years, considering to increase military transparency, sino-foreign special forces joint training has been normalizd. Through such joint training, Chinese special forces have a great opportunity to improve their overall level.
Compared with foreign armies, the start of construction of PLA special forces is late, although PLA have focused great importance of special operations in different historical periods, but it was not until the 1988 first special forces unit set up, only marked the PLA’s modern special forces was formally established .
For reasons of confidentiality, PLA military special forces have been acting in a low-key, their movements are not known to outsiders. In recent years, with the growing number of foreign military exchanges, the Chinese special forces have gradually exposed their true faces.
In 1998, PLA army was invited to participate for the first time in Estonia organized by the International Scout competition will be awarded for the most outstanding performance of team honor. Since then, a number of similar international competitions, the Chinese special forces performance is nothing short of spectacular.
In 2009, at the 14th session of the NATO international special forces competition, China’s special forces debut with the British Royal Marine Commandos, the U.S. “Green Berets”, Israel’s Sayeret MATKAL world-renowned special forces. After a fierce rivalry, PLA special forces soldiers ultimately display absolute advantagea and break the six record, occupy the first position on gold medal number, whole medal number and team score.
The Outstanding achievements in various international competitions has sufficiently prove that PLA military special forces has equal combat force with those well-known foreign special forces, it is mainly manifested in several ways:
First of all, the fighting spirit of our military is stronger than the foreign armies. Second, PLA special force still has strict selection standards, which are similar with foriegn counterparts. Third, PLA Special forces’ Combat skills requirements is also no better than their foreign counterparts. The team members during service, in addition to master hundreds of weapons, but also to master skills like skydiving, demolition, diving, climbing, skiing, car-driving, boat driving, martial, orientation judgment, map recognition and so on.

The lack of combat experience is an issue not only of the Chinese special forces but of the Chinese military in general including her top ranking officers. It is bad for the future of China and this Communist dynasty. This dynasty may not last another generation with the present civilian leadership.
Great empires in history have always been in a constant state of war. They seeked out or CREATED enemies, usually weaker enemies all the time. The Roman lasted for a thousand years by doing exactly what the Spanish/Portuguese did, then the British/French and now the American Empire. They keep creating and fighting wars. America has not gone one year since Independence without being in a war.
The Mongols at their peak constantly invaded and fighted wars after wars. They collapse when Kublai Khan adopted the “peaceful” Chinese way and become too comfortable in the Middle Kingdom. The Ottomon Turks collapsed when they started to enjoy their spoils and decided to be “civilised”. The Monghul in India decided to built the Taj Mahal instead of cntinue to lead their troops south into the Indian subcontinent. Dynasties in China falled after the 3rd or 4th emperor because they want peace with the neighbours.
There are many situations where the Chinese can “blooded” their special forces. The Mekong piracy, be reactive and send the special forces in to eliminate the pirate. The East Turkestan separatist movement needs to be pursue and eliminated, even if it means making raids into the Central Asian republics. Special forces should be sent to crush the exiled Tibetan government in India. When is China going to take back Islands being occupied in the South China Sea? They can start by evicting the illegal migrant on the Islands where the Phillipines has a kintergarden. Oops, may be the marine should be enough for this mission.
All the exercises meant nothing when a real invasion or war starts. Read the Sung Dynasty history.
hehe….I dont know what to say to that…
I think they are fine. For a country that doesn’t wage war, they are fine the way they are. Of course you can’t expect China to be like the United, states, their annual Budget is 5 times of China’s, and they are a active war country. I bet anything, if China does get into a war, they will be fine. Don’t worry. They are a very adaptive country.
