CNGC is an important mega state-owned key enterprise under the direct administration of the Central Government and a strategic group of China to react to challenges and crises. CNGC brings together the key research and production forces of Chinese ordnance industry, representing the development direction and level of Chinese ordnance industry. The Group owns over 120 research institutes, trading companies and manufacturing enterprises and nearly one hundred overseas affiliates distributed in scores of countries or regions. CNGC has RMB 100 billion of total assets and over 300 thousand employees.
CNGC is an investment organization authorized by the State and a performance subject of state-owned assets.The group enjoys the decision-making power of investment, beneficial interest in assets, authority to examine and approve foreign affaires, import and export permits, and the contract right in project, combining product operation with capital operation.
CNGC is the largest weaponry-manufacturing group in China. It researches and develops high technological weapons of various areas such as precision striking, amphibious assaulting, long-range suppression, air defence anti-missile, information night vision, high effective destruction, etc. for the army, navy, and air force as well as the arms of other services, playing a fundamentally strategic role in the modern construction of China national defence.
Adhering to the policy of combining military and civil production, CNGC keeps devoted to the civil use of high military technology. Making the best of the superiority of military product technology and resource, it has successively developed a batch of pillar civil products based on high military technology, and made an important contribution to the modern construction of national economy.
It was stated in the 16th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party that the first two decades of the 21st century was a period of important strategic opportunities which we must grasp tightly and can have bright prospects. In accordance with this strategic judgment and the requi rements of military reformation with Chinese characteristic, CNGC will go all out to accelerate the informatization, precisionization, speedization and remotization of ordnance technology in the coming two decades. The Group tries to make the ordnance technology of China into the advanced group in the world by 2020 when it will become an important base for the research and manufacture of high technological weapons and an internationally competitive company in the world.
