2011-11-18 (China Military News cited from csmonitor.com and by Peter Ford) -- As Washington and Beijing spar this week in a new round of their heavyweight contest for influence in Southeast Asia, the Chinese have diplomatically ducked a number of American punches. But the resumption of hostilities has alarmed local analysts here.
“They are sending a clear cut message to China, that America is back and wants to hold down or roll back China,” says Zhu Feng, a professor at Peking University’s School of International Studies. “This will not facilitate diplomatic cooperation.”
Official Chinese spokesmen have reacted calmly to President Obama’s announcement Wednesday that US Marines will be based in northern Australia, closer to the disputed South China Sea than any other US land forces.
In the midst of economic crisis “it is debatable whether now is a good time to be strengthening and expanding military alliances, and whether this accords with regional expectations,” was all Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin would say on Wednesday.
The latest in a series of US changes
But the Australian deal, which US officials said should be seen in the context of a rising China, was only the latest illustration of a clearly changing US posture in the Asia Pacific region.
Last week the Pentagon unveiled a new Air Sea Battle concept, which military officials said was needed to counter others’ “anti-access and area denial” weapons. They did not say the new concept was targeted at China, but they did not deny that China is the only potential enemy with the sort of capabilities the concept is aimed at.
Then, at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Hawaii, Mr. Obama made progress pushing a free trade Trans Pacific Partnership from which China has been excluded.

Americans are arrogant attempt to isolate China economically and militarily, so now it's time to teach the Americans, with a light sentence stop all shipments of rare earth to the whole world, let the price of land becomes scarce its price up a hundred thousand times, and to hell with WTO rules, do the lessons this technology companies to America and its allies lay off employees, due to impaired production

China should ignore those U.S. attempts of bullying China because the americans are entering an electoral time and moreover, unlike past decades, what really matters now is the nation's economic performance and it's laughable a country with an anemic economic growth, let alone contractions, to harass a country with a growth of no less than 9 percent.

stop all sales of rare earth in the form of raw and processed, only export in the form of finished goods only, so all forms of technology the need for American weapons or other high tehnologie must be made by the manufacturer china, china thus could reduce the threat of American aggression, so do not let rare earths are produced by the American just to make sophisticated weapons to destroy china, so if America and its allies need to scarce land tehnologie sophisticated weapons, should be made and produced by china, no it do not ever want to sell rare earth that has not been in the process and still raw, so China has greatly reduced the threat of American aggression and its allies and China can control the ability of American weapons to be used to attack china, remember once again to hell with the WTO

America on the grounds of internal security can prohibit export of high tehnologie to china, then china conversely can use the same excuse for the safety of rare earth in China of American aggression that uses high tehnologie the material is rare earth, and for this reason China does not violate WTO rules, but need to remember the WTO are made by America and its allies, so to hell with the WTO for China domestic security from the threat of American aggression and its allies

I suppose the Great Wall of China was built on the premis of paranoia do to unruly neighbors. The amount of information that America has purchased by defecting Chineese has pad off emensely by the Ameriacan CIA has been very beneficial. If I were China, I would be more concerned about the wrong people working in the right area's for America's interest. China might be able to control their Internet but they can't control the amount of information being sent by satellite technology that America is at least 25 years ahead of China's technology. Now America has their technology and they have them circled.

us isnt ahead in anything. americans are delusional if they think that Chinese support the CCP due to lack of information. Such an analysis wouldnt be able to explain people like me.
"The poll also shows that the Chinese government enjoys considerable approval among the Chinese in America. Sergio Bendixen, whose Miami-based company conducted the poll, said that such approval of communist governments was unusual.
“Only 1 to 2 percent of Cubans gave Fidel Castro a positive rating,” he said, while 62 percent of Chinese Americans gave Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao a positive rating".
Even in america, the CCP enjoys strong support from Chinese americans. And they have all the access they want.
us is probing everyone, not just China. They are also probing the Russian Federation.
"Russians Say U.S. Naval Visit to Black Sea "Threat to Our Security ...

Jun 22, 2011"
"Russia warns NATO on its readiness for nuclear WW3. Russia’s top military commander has warned of nuclear war with NATO
Nov 18th, 2011"
So the us is obviously trying to provoke hostilities with countries around the world.
It wasnt until China decided arm a nuclear North Korea recently, did the us change its explanation for why its deploying itself in australia. Now they claim its about ferrying troops from Afghanistan. When they claimed previously that it was meant to contain China.

americans are trash. But their motivations do escape me from time to time. My guess is that there is this trade deficit and budget deficit in the united states. And its struggling to figure out how it should respond to this problem. But it seems like a stupid response.

@ great china: China only has 37% of proven reserves but produces 97% of world output. Thats all about to change with many companies ramping up production all over the world. China can keep her rare earth. So no issue there.
Agree about the WTO that the US should have never agreed to allow China entry as China plays by her rules not WTO rules. If the WTO members diddnt allow China to join the WTO in 1991 then their economy wouldnt be what it is today my friend.

Chinese economic growth averaged nearly 10 percent every year between 1970 and 1990. WTO made little difference. The only difference was what contributed to economic growth. Without foreign trade, Chinese economic growth was mostly domestic consumption. With foreign trade, exports began to make up a substantial part of economic growth.
Exports are irrelevant to economic growth. The 20 years prior to the WTO entry proves that.
China could have 10 percent growth from nothing but military spending and domestic consumption. Whether it sells a single Lenovo or not abroad would have no impact on its quarterlies.

Whenever I purchase Chinese, the end result is that it crowds out consumer and government spending that takes place in China. Every export contributes to inflation and national spending needs to adjusted in order address that. Yet, I still purchase Chinese. Because those are my preferences.

Tienfei: China's growth averaged 10% after 1972 because they decide to open up to the west in order to enhance growth and national security. The idea was by doing this they increased GDP & development in their less prosperous regions. China is export dominated economy dependant on exports for stability. They need to focus more on their domestic market to encourage additional growth. If exports were to drop it would significantly effect their GDP.
Also in response to your frequented statement that "Americans are trash" do you think all Americans are trash?
How old are you, dont you know how to use capital letters when referring to the "US or America"? Why is that? All other countries you seem to remember that countries names start with capitals. You need to grow up my friend as you look immature!
With all the hatred and racist comments that spews from your mouth you need to get a life buddy!

They opened up the economy in the 1970s. But economic growth was still pretty strong. China's economic growth in 1969 was 16.8 percent per annual and averaged close to 8 percent a year between 1953 and 1970.
As I said, americans are trash. Exports are irrelevant to the Chinese economy. If exports currently were to drop significantly. Any drop can be made up in the from military and domestic spending. This was made evident from the american recession experienced in 2008. american imports dropped dramatically, cutting the national trade deficit with the world down from 800 billion to 400 billion per annual. This drop in american consumption reduced overseas imports.
However, there was no Chinese crash that followed the american one. This is because GDP is essentially private consumption + gross investment + government spending + (exports − imports)
Even if exports were to crash. The CCP can always increase military and domestic spending and monetary policies to encourage civilian activities. Thus boosting private consumption, gross investment and government spending to makeup for the difference.
China still grew 9.6 percent in 2008, 8.7 percent in 2009 and averaged around 10 percent in 2010. 2011 is also expected to be a strong year.

"China’s inflation crisis is a direct result of the Fed’s quantitative easing and the monetary inflation that we have exported to them in return for their sporting goods, toys, and other products they produce".
Every export China sells contributes to China's national inflation rate. If they had simply produced goods for their own domestic demand. Local consumption would have eaten away the inflation figures. Thus its not to China's benefit that I just purchased a Lenovo tablet. I do it because I like to.

Chinese exports contribute anywhere between 1 - 3% of GDP so is significant. Good response apart from the trash talk you 12 year old.

Im not sure where those figures come from. But 1 to 3 percent of the GDP is very negligible. That would imply 97 to 99 percent of the economy has nothing to do with exports. Perhaps you meant to say 1 to 3 percent of GDP growth. But even if that were true, any monetary policy would easily adjust for it.

The real gdp of china is already 2 times bigger than the gdp of america. did you know that china produces 7 times more steel than america, 9 times more elctronics than america, and graduates every year 6 times more scientists and engineers than america.
I am not sure why the published chinese gdp statistics ae so under-reported. The real gdp of china is at least 5 times bigger than officially reported.
China will have 3 times the real gdp of america, and 3 times the real economic and military capabilities of america by 2016.
Maybe the chinese under-report their gdp to make the world believe that china is very poor and very weak.
Chinese people have a strange mentality!

I will tell you why Amerika is trash.
1. They always blame there problems on other people rather it is OPEC in the 1970's or Japan in the 1980's or China today. Amerika's problems are always some one elses fault. Don't you think that American fiscal, monetary, industrial, social, foreign and defence policies over the past 60 year's has anything to do with Amerika's current predicaments ?
2. They always make outlandish claims about there "greatness" and "goodness" and "humanity" while there actions are the opposites of that. Like calling the Iraq war a liberation rather then the occupation that it truely is, coming from there war of agression. Or letting there "heroes" the soldiers who fought those wars to be left to there faith after coming back from the wars abroad with traumas an injuries. Leaving them to crime and poverty, substance abuse and homelessness. And what about the top 1% stealing all the money and leaving the rest to a life as debt surfs ?
3. Amerika is the most violent nation on earth today with at least six ongoing wars and many more covert terrorisme operations against who ever they think is threating there hegemony over the world. While all the time leaving there own people to suffer economic hardship and injustices back home.
4. Amerika is the most hypocritical nation in the world. While preaching one thing and doing another. Calling out others for there "bad behavior" and in the mean time committing crimes them selfs that are far worst than anything anyone else is doing on the international stage.
5. Amerika is lying, cheating and stealing from the rest of the world for the past 65 year's ever since Brettenwood II. The Americans promised the world that they would give gold to the holders of US dollars and yet they went back on that promise in 1971 unilaterally without any consultation with there trading partners and creditors with the so called Nixon Shock. That leaves the rest of the world holding trillions of worthless dollars. And when Europe complained about this the American response was "It is our currency it is you're problem" Amerika during the last decade have been selling junk assets and bonds around the world that they know are worthless the so called mortgage backed securities to the rest of the world again stealing from the rest of us. Now you have QE that is devalueing the US dollar and effectively once again stealing the wealth of there foreign creditors.
Amerika today is the biggest threat to the world economically, financially, politically and militarily.

In 1800, China was supposedly the largest economy in the world. Its mostly speculation, but it is somewhat believable since the introduction of steam trains and ships will be introduced around this time. Once the mass production of self-powered machines comes underway, even if China held onto all of the world's gold and silver, it would be hard to justify China as the largest economy in the world given the sheer gap in industrial production like coal, steel, electricity, etc. when compared to industrial nations.
But China today, is the world's largest economy. China today produces almost 50 percent of the world's steel. Its the largest automobile producer, speed train producer, shipbuilder, gold producer, food production, almost anything, you name it.
What technology must China steal from the us. Chinese dont have any american weapons systems. There are no f16s or 15s or burke class in the PLA. The closest foreign weapons systems would have to be Russian. And China still operates an abundant amount of local weapons systems like DFs, J10s, 20s, and 050 class warships.
