China aims Turkey as Commercial Aircraft marketing base

2011-05-14 (China Military News cited from hurriyetdailynews.com) — Commercial Aircraft of China, or COMAC, has selected Turkey as a marketing base to spread to other countries.

A large group of COMAC officials came to Turkey and signed a distributorship agreement with Turkey’s Mermerler Sirketler Group, a Turkish entity that is also a distributor of Chinese Chery automobiles.

COMAC will firstly focus on the Turkish market and later enter markets surrounding Turkey. Vice-President of COMAC, Tian Min, said that they wanted to develop their business potential in Turkey.

Another senior COMAC official, David Lui, said this was their second business visit to Turkey.

“At this visit, we have seen that we made the right decision to enter the Turkish market,” he said. “Turkey is at the very center of the developing markets. Turkey is a country in which conducting business is easy. With the assistance of Mermerler Group, we had a chance to talk to Atlasjet and Turkish Airlines. Turkey’s governmental policies support the development of the civil aviation,” Lui said.

President of the Executive Board of Mermerler Holding, Yüksel Mermer, said Turkey will have the chance to manufacture its own passenger plane.

“COMAC is a great establishment with enormous experiences. I hope that our sales agreement will soon turn into an agreement for exports,” Mermer also said.
