Core Military Capability of China's Air Force

June.05 (released by "China Military Power Mashup" and written by Guo Hongbo) -- The Chinese Air Force has demonstrated continued improvements in military capabilities in many crucial operations, military and non-military, including field combat drills. Sino-Russian military exercises, security maintenance for the Beijing Olympics and relief work for the Sichuan earthquake. The Air Force has achieved significant improvements in air offense, long-range precision strikes, air-defense and anti-missile capabilities, strategic air delivery, airborne operations, rapid response, joint operations, command and comprehensive support.

Air Offense

Scene One: On the night of Feb. 25, 2006, a dozen fighters flashed through the dark, heavily overcast sky in east China. They were conducting a beyond-visual-range (BVR) offense and defense drill in complicated weather conditions.

Thickening clouds and bursts of electromagnetic interference brought challenges and danger. The pilots were in intensive combat. They would fly until the last missile was fired and return to battle the moment tanks were refilled and weapons reloaded.

All the fighters landed smoothly without lights as the four-hour exercise ended at 11:30 p.m.

Scene Two: In late July 2008. more than 10 Air Force regiments and brigades, including air defense and electronic counter-measure forces, gathered in northwest China. The country's largest comprehensive exercise was launched over tens of thousands of square kilometers to test airborne early warning, air defense and interception and counter-measure capabilities. New-generation fighters, surface-to-air missiles, information transmitters and field command shelters all converged from across China to form a comprehensive joint combat system that attacked and defended against an "enemy force" under intense electromagnetic interference.

The US says Iran and Nk with nw are a threat to the international community.in fact it is the US which is the greater threat to the security of these two countries. These two countries are developing nw to defend themselves against US attack. The Americans are using the UN so that it is officially sanctioned when the US attacks these two countries as in Kosovo.
Now it seems the Pentagon is trying to use conventional missiles attack China's nw sites. So if the Chinese were to hit back with nw,they will be clobbered by the massive disparity in US nw numbers. This is a dangeorous game.maybe in mao's time the US could get away not now.
My belief is the PLA have factored in all kinds of scenarios and any attack on the nw in China must be accompanied by a Chinese nuclear response. Then it is is up to who will chicken out.

As ususal the US has said NK is a threat to the international community ieUS/SK/Japan.I live in Indonesia. I don't think NK will be athreat to Indonesia or for that matter Phillippines and countries in SEA. The US is demonising Nk to get international support so that it will say it has international support when it attacks NK.This is avery clever ploy just like it did in the Korean war.
The US on its own can easily destroy NK nw but it wants UN backing so that it will add credence.
It has not attacked Nk so far because it has not been seriously provoked by NK. Another reason is because NK has the means to counter attack Sk.Doing so will cause at least 3000 to 5000 US casualties.Of course Nk will cease to exist.
By my reckoning the pentagon has calculated that the price is too exorbitant unlike Iraq.
You never know. According to one writer ,Johnson deliberately provked the NV into attacking US ships in the Tonkin gulf thereby triggering the US involvement.
Similarly the Pentagon could stage a similar episode.

      You never know.
