October.21 (China Military News cited from Chinamil.com.cn) -- Hu Xiubin, general director of the “Vanguard 2009A” air-and-land joint fire striking exercise and chief of staff of a group army under the Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), told the reporters that the exercise would embody the innovations of the PLA in fire employment in the following five aspects:

As for fire strike, priority will be given to fire application, so as to bring the aggregate effects of all fire into fullest play.

As for target-setting, it is stressed that the nature and value of the targets will be taken into account to determine the index of to-be-damaged targets which in turn determines the fire demand that necessitates the corresponding fire make-up which in the end determines task assignment.

As for fire application, it is emphasized to form all-depth, full-course and air-land integrated fire system and lay stress on giving full play of fire’s role in controlling targets. As long as the target is accessible and controllable by fire, there should be no need to seize it by troops.

As for the fire coordination, prominence should be given to the coordination of fire among the air force aviation troops, army aviation troops, artillery troops and air defense troops. It is necessary to establish and improve the air-and-land fire coordination body with the artillery command organ of the army troops as the mainstay and the fire coordination personnel of the troop units (detachments) from the supporting air force aviation troops and army aviation troops along with the related equipment as the supplement.

As for the accurate combat, stress should be given to such 5 aspects as accurate reconnaissance, accurate command, accurate strike, accurate assessment and accurate support, so as to embody the specific demand of accurate-combat concept.
