Jule.21 (Chinese Military News cited from Xinhuanet and Itar-Tass)-- Xinhuanews Agency the day before yesterday reported that a Chinese military aircraft participating in the Sino-Russian "PeaceMission-2009" joint anti-terror exercise crashed at Yaonan military training base in northeast China.

This JH-7A fighter-bomber with a crew of two was flying over the Taonan tactical training base in Jilin Provincewhen it crashed。 It is not known if the crew escaped from the aircraft。
Xinhua Neews Agency said that the cause for the crash was not immediately known and military authorities are investigating。
But Itar-Tass at the same time reported detailed infromation. It says tht the plane of the Chinese Air Force was flying to inflict a strike on a land target at an altitude of around 200 metres, lost speed, tilted to one side, land-crashed and exploded.
Itar-Tass also pointed that two pilots have died.
The JH-7/A is China's newest and most capable domestically-built fighter-bomber. The aircraft is powered by two Spey Mk.202 turbofan engines manufactured under license in China, designated WS-9. The newer JH-7A airframe is lighter and stronger than that of the original JH-7 variant, giving the JH-7A model a maximum armament load of 9000 kg, compared to the Sukhoi Su-24 and Su-30 at 8000 kg and the General Dynamics F-111 at 11,000 kg.
