June.1 (Chinese Military News cited from Chinamil.com) -- The "Weishanhu" ship, "Shenzhen" Destroyer and "Huangshan" Frigate of the Chinese naval escort taskforce sailed into Port Salalah of Oman on June 21 to make in-port replenishment for next 10 days. This is the first time for the PLA Navy warships to berth in Oman and the third in-port replenishment since its implementation of escort task.

The materials replenished this time mainly include such liquid goods as fresh water and diesel. There are also more than 50 kinds of 5 major categories of non-staple foods, such as poultry meat, vegetables and fruits. The replenishment will take 3 days according to the plan. During this period, the officers and men on board of the ship who have been implementing escorting mission at the high sea for a long period of time will be arranged to take rest in turns and go ashore for exercise. The advanced party consisting of relevant personnel from relevant departments of the PLA Navy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China came to Port Salalah in advance to coordinate the Chinese agencies in Oman including the West Asia Company of the China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) to procure materials on commercialized model.

Yang Weijun, commander of the "Weishanhu" ship, said that since the ship was sent to perform escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast five months ago, it had berthed twice in Port Aden of Yemen for replenishment. The main reason for selecting Port Salalah as the replenishment port this time is to further explore and perfect the way of large-batch comprehensive replenishment on commercialized model by relying on foreign commercial ports, so as to accumulate experience for the PLA Navy in carrying out oceanic logistics support during the military operation other than war.
