Jun.23 (China Defense Mashup Reporting by Johnathan Weng) -- As the large number of old Type 62 light tank (more than 1,000 vehicles deployed in South China ), Chinese Army has been considering the improvement of these armor vehicles. Recently, some pictures scanned from official magazine show that PLA is adding some Type 63A Amphibious tank Turret onto the chassis of Type 62 Light tank. Type 63A has a redesigned welded turret with four smoke grenade dischargers on each side of the turret, a stowage bucket in the rear of the turret and two stowage buckets on the sides of the turret. The turret was armed with 105 mm rifled gun instead of the original 85 mm Type 62-85TC rifled gun.
