What would China's 5th Generation Fighter Like to be?

June.1 (China Defense Mashup Reporting by Johanthan Weng) -- Last month, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said that Russia will testing the long-anticipated 'fifth-generation' fighter plane it has co-produced with India by the end of the year. Can Russian can accomplish this promise? Perhaps Indian like to know the answer. But Russia is not the only power, which want to participate the arena of 5th generation fighter development.

China is abviously the new gamer. However, the progress and aerodynamic shape design are totally the top secret in China since the beginning of 21st century when China's 5th generation fighter project was believed to begin.

It is said that No.611 Insititute of CAC (Chengdu Aircraft Corporation) became the winner in the 5th generation figher competition with No.601 Institute of SAC (Shenyang Aircraft Corporation). Mr. Yang Wei, the chief designer of J-10 fighter, has been promoted to a higher position in AVIC and can deploy more company resources to support the R&D of CAC. Although this hearsay can not be sure, more informations about Chinese future fighter can extract from Chinese cyber space.

Look at these 4 imganation pictures, which are made by one Chinese worked in SAC before. Here he provide 4 possible aerodynamic configurations of China's 5th generation fighter. The first one is forward swept wing configuration, the second one is triplane configuration, the third one is Canard Configuration and the last one is tailless configuration.  In these pictures, you may find some familiarities in J-10, F-35 or even YF-23. Can these CG photos bring us to the truth? You may be interested in the next one.

The fighter in this graphic look more sci-fi taste. The shape may let you recall the Dark Sword, which is one Chinese concept comabt uav once displayed in Zhuhai Airshow. Some Chinese aviation enthusiasts even say that the canard wings can be flexible and retracted into the fuselage. Some resources confirm that this image has been historically close the final design, which were provided by CAC in last year.

Exactly, infromations gathered from Internet just prove one thing that China don't want to copy F-22 under the technological gap with U.S. China's fifth generation fighter may have one or two advantages to fetch up the suprem 4S charactors of F-22. Depending on information revolution and interior lines combat situation, China think it can challenge the superiority of American Air Force.

However, russia has already neatly designed a engine for china with thurst vector, given the current chinese technology level and reliance both engine will be brought and evaluated. before a final decision is decided.
