May.19 (China Defense Mashup Reporting by Johnathan Weng) -- This photo clearly display the differece between the old version H-6 bomber (right in the image) and H-6K, which has expanded inlet size for China's WS-18 Turbofan. Comparing with the right H-6 bomber, the new H-6K has 6 under-wing pylons, on which some kinds of cruise missiles can be seen. For other detailed information, you can see my this post.

The airframe should be redesigned to allow for supersonic flight. They should also consider using four WS-10 engines to allow for supersonic speeds. The B-1 bomber uses 4 engines and is a very capable bomber able to launch sea and land attacks.

Dear William:
Redesigning an airframe meant for subsonic flight to one for supersonic flight is not feasible. It would be much better to start with a new design. china should continue to develop this large old bomber with slight modifications to the wings and avionics. Its best use is as a long-range air-to-air refueling tanker and cruise missile carrier
