A J-11BS Fighter photoed in China’s Yanliang Flight Testing Center

Apr.12 (China Defense Mashup Reporting by Johnathan Weng) — Although this photo is not clear, but it is still the first available picture of J-11BS fighter, which is now being evaluated in Yanliang Flight Test Center, Xi’an city, Shanxi Province. J-11BS is a two-seat version of J-11B and it is similar to F-15E  “Strike Eagle”. J-11BS’s final performance will be close to F-15K and it is significant of realizing PLAAF’s concept of  “Offensive and defensive Operation Integration”. According to my estimation, J-11BS’ development will be finished in this year.

Year Type Generation
2004 J-10 4
2005 J-10S(two-seat version) 4
2008 J-11B 4
2009 J-11BS(two-seat version) 4.5
2010 J-11J( naval version) 4

I wonder if chinese militaries can develop anything on their own rather than stealing completely others’ ideas!

The J-11BS is a Chinese development based on the Su-27UBK with own avionics and weapon systems. Even if not 100% own development, creating a more advanced variant is not as easy as copying a car or a printer!
reverse engineering is a very complicated process actually.

It’s funny a jap/nip accusing the Chinese of copying other countries hardware, because I remember the japs/nips being accused of the same thing by the west for years….pot calling the kettle black comes to mind.

This stupid Yamada ! Has he not known his history ? Most original Japanese written systems, paintings and arts, confucius morals and norms were copied and learned from the Chinese. Even the puny eating utensil like chopsticks, and things like soy sauce and Tofu were copied and learned from the Chinese. Say what ?? The Fuck ?? What an Ass !!

      Jazz,

You should take a look at chinese history and american history, just for example, and examine them step by step, invention after invention. American inventions are made of nothing more than stolen european (particularily german) blueprints, i.e. the flying wing, nuclear technology, etc. etc. All those great american military equipments appeared only after WW2 and the cold war, not to mention the space program. After all americans originated in europe.

BTW, those SU fighters are LICENSED copies of the russian original. And as gamer4ever said before, reverse engineering is actually a very complicated process.

The J-8II is the closest thing to an indigenous design from the chinese and even it copies the su-15 in its original form. They had to copy the details reverse-engineered of the su-15 that crashed in the mid-60’s over northern mongolia because they couldn’t make heads or tails of all the mikoyan research of a similar design for which they overpaid.
