Chinese Scientific Institutes join hands for Meteorological Warfare Development?

Beijing, Feb.28 (China Defense Mashup Report by Johnathan Weng) -- Two days ago, the GOV.cn published a news to report that OSIC (Ordnance science institute of China) and CAMS (Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences) sign a strategic partner contract for joint development on weather control technologies.

Both sides announce that their cooperation will greatly improve the weather modification's position in agricultural disaster relief and economic growth.

But as an result, the weather control technology can also be used in military purpose, which sometimes called as Meteorological warfare.

In early 2008, South China suffered for the snow havoc. And some Chinese people believed that this disaster was made by U.S. Meteorological weapons.

And later the largest rain dispersal operation on record in China was used in conjunction with the Olympics. The Beijing Municipal Meteorological Bureau fired a total of 1,104 rain dispersal rockets within an eight-hour period prior to and during the opening ceremonies of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad on August 8, 2008.

The rockets were launched from twenty-one sites and may have prevented the ceremonies from receiving rainfall in the range of 25 to 100 millimeters of rain.

The Heads of CAMS and CNGC (China North Industries Group Corporation) participated the contract signing ceremony. Jiao Haiyan (矫梅燕), the Deputy Director of CAMS, said that China has been able to organize the largest weather modification operation in the world.

And CNGC Vice General Manager Yangzhuo (杨卓) emphasizes that Chinese military industries has begun the weather control technologies development since 1970s.
